„The Burning Baby“ ist tot.

Der ein Jahr alte Jeyaramachandran starb vor wenigen Tagen an einer schweren Diarrhoe.

Das Kind aus dem Dorf Parangini im südindischen Bundesstaat Tamil Nadu hatte im Januar 2015 weltweit für Schlagzeilen gesorgt, weil seine Eltern behaupteten, ihr Sohn leide an „spontaner Selbstentzündung“ (SHC).

Ärzte und Kinderschutzorganiationen nahmen dagegen einen Fall von Kindesmisshandlung an.

In einem aktuellen Bericht des New Indian Express heißt es:

The doctors declared it was not a case of SHC and the boy was discharged after three months. Yet again, the doctors suggested investigation be done to find whether it was a case of child abuse. But, neither the CWC nor the police registered a case and the boy never caught fire again.

On Tuesday, Jeyaramachandran, who was suffering from diarrhoea, was taken to the Mundiyambakkam GH at around 10.pm.

Saying his condition was critical, doctors there advised the family to take him to Jipmer Hospital. But, Jeyaramachandran died on the way.“

Auch Jeyaramachandrans älterer Bruder Rahul erlitt 2013 mehrmals schwere Verbrennungen. Auch damals hatten die Eltern behauptet, der Junge sei von selbst in Flammen aufgegangen.

Rahul ist noch am Leben.
